Q: Where are you based?
A: We are based in the UK with offices in both London and Nottingham.
Q: What are your main areas of business?
A: We have 4 main business areas; covering database technology, business applications, high performance networking and security and Remote Managed Services.
Q: What sectors do you work within?
A: We are fortunate to have one of the largest teams of highly skilled database consultants and technicians in the UK. Through these ‘vertical market’ teams we cover all industries from Finance and Banking to Retail, Education and Manufacturing to name but a few.
Q: Do you bundle services?
A: Yes. We have clients who have taken a managed service contract that requires us to service both their Oracle and SQL Server database while maintaining business applications. In addition we also manage and maintain their network structure both internally and site to site delivering fantastic ROI and TCO reduction.
The packages consist of administration and monitoring, operating system administration and monitoring, custom software development, hosting services, and system and database tuning.
We are very flexible and have the ability to mix and match all of our services to meet your individual requirements.
Q: Do you work with any outsourced data centers?
A: Yes, we have a great relationship with Node 4 who are based in the UK.
Q: What service levels can we expect?
A: Quantix offer one of the best and most comprehensive services in the UK. Our pre-sales consultants are always available to help. When dealing with technical issues, our standard minimum response time is 30 minutes, however this will be reduced dependant on the severity of the issue and your business requirements.

Database / Application questions
Q: Which Oracle platforms do you support?
A: We support all Oracle database platforms, from 8i through to 11g. Primarily performing optimisation, upgrade, migrations, RAC and health checks.
Q: Which SQL Server versions do you support?
A: We support all SQL Server versions, including SQL Server 2000 / SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008.
Q: If I am not based in the UK, can I still use your services?
A: Yes, with no effect on your service levels. Our remote managed services can access any server in the world as long as you have an internet connection. If you are out of the UK, we aren’t however able to provide onsite consulting.
Q: How do you access our database servers?
A: We usually access your databases through SSL VPN. However we can use alternative methods to suit your requirements.
Q: Are there any security issues when out sourcing my database administration work?
A: Your primary concern is who you outsource your DBA work to…
Quantix possess security clearance for all our DBA staff, this has been a pre-requisite in providing comprehensive support for our Emergency Services clients’ database infrastructure. In addition to the individual clearance, Quantix have a set of standard secure procedures and processes in place when managing these systems remotely. The security practice at Quantix ensures that we can work to very strict SLA’s and we can offer our clients a range of secure solutions. We have a proven track record with UK Police Forces and Financial Institutions.
Certain DBA tasks, such as monitoring, tuning, backup and recovery, upgrades, and troubleshooting can all be successfully.

A: Our advise is totally impartial and dependant on your business requirements. If required we can deliver the best of both.
Q: Between what times do you manage our Mission Critical Systems?
A: This is dependent on your business requirements. We can run on either a 24*7basis, within a specific time frame or on an ad-hoc / project based requirement.
