Quantix Cloud FAQs
Why is the Quantix Cloud
different?
The Quantix cloud has been designed to support managed
enterprise cloud deployments. Engrained security and the ability to
support large scale database environments were at the forefront of
our design principles. Unlike many public cloud providers Quantix
provision secure virtual private networks spanning two UK data
centres and we take daily management responsibility up to an
application layer. This gives our customers the commercial benefits
of Cloud technology and the peace on mind that their applications
are being managed by experienced consultants.
Where is my data physically
held?
All of your data is held in our UK data centres.
Your primary data store will be at our Derby data centre with a
mirror image copy (for automatic failover) at our Wakefield
centre.
What service availability levels can I expect to
receive?
As standard, your cloud environment is available
and accessible 24x7 backed up by an availability guaranteed by SLA
of 99.9%.
How does the pricing work?
The pricing for the Cloud infrastructure is based on
resource usage. Typically customers commit to a minimum resource
watermark and then have the ability to flex above this on
demand.
How are backups taken?
All servers in the Quantix cloud will be backed up on a
nightly basis. Backups will be taken to a separate SAN
infrastructure located in the secondary UK data centre.
Do you undertake regular
DR testing?
Yes, Quantix undertake regular testing of failover between
the geographic locations.
Can you provide the software
licencing?
Quantix has service provider licencing agreements with a
large number of major software vendors including Microsoft, Oracle,
Red Hat, VMware, Citrix, Double Take, Kaspersky & Zeus. All of
our agreements contain the necessary EULA amendments for hosting
(many public cloud providers push the licencing responsibility back
on its customers).
What security options do you
offer?
We strongly believe that the level of security available
on our cloud platform is one of our biggest differentiators.
Quantix were one of the first cloud providers to offer two factor
authentication as standard (
link) and our core security
includes best of breed AV, encryption, Firewalling, VPN, 2FA, IDP
& NAC. Customers can then upgrade security levels to include a
range of other technologies such as Data Leakage Prevention,
Content Filtering, Application Firewalling, Security Event
Management and Vulnerability testing. Our managed services can also
be overlaid to provide patching and penetration testing
services.
Can I view the "health" of my
systems?
As we operate a managed cloud a considerable amount of
development work has been invested into providing our customers
with transparent visibility into their private cloud. Our
monitoring platform offers a dashboard view showing real time
server, storage, network, database, security and application
information. The alerting engine will provide notification of any
threshold breaches, plus can be customised to integrate with any
third party application.
